2024 metais Lietuvai minint Dainų šventės šimtmetį, atverta paroda „Iš šerdies” Taikomosios dailės ir dizaino muziejuje.
Parodos akcentas - Petronėlės Gerlikienės kilimas „Dainų šventė”, įkvėptas būtent šio renginio ir sukurtas 1976 metais. Tai vienas šventiškiausių ir žaismingiausių Petronėlės Gerlikienės kūrinių, kaskart nustebinantis savo originalia kompozicija ir intriguojančiomis detalėmis.

“1976 m. respublikinė dainų ir šokių šventė Vilniuje. Tai daugybė žmonių suvažiavo iš visų pakraščių. Nesutalpinsi jų į vieną kilimą. Svarbiausia dainininkai ir šokėjai. Jiems šokant pačios kojos vyniojasi, ir ta žiliukė raudonais skruostais, su paukščiais ant pėdų, labai jau modeliuota suknele, ir pagyvenęs vyras, teikiantis jai gėles. Kaimo kapelijos muzikantai grojo, kol nugriuvo. Dirigentas diriguoja, o pranešėja su kelnėmis, ji vis žvilgčioja į veidrodėlį.”

In 2024, as Lithuania celebrates the centenary of the Song Festival, the exhibition "From the Core" was opened at the Museum of Applied Art and Design.
The highlight of the exhibition is Petronėlė Gerlikienė's tapestry "The Song Festival", inspired by this event and created in 1976. This is one of the most festive and playful works of Petronėlė Gerlikienė, it surprises and delights with its unusual composition and intriguing details.

“The national song and dance festival in Vilnius in 1976. And the bunch of people from all over! You can’t put them all in one tapestry. The singers and dancers are the most important. They dance so ardently their legs twisted like pretzels. And that gray-haired woman over there with red cheeks. She has birds on her feet, and is wearing a patterned dress. And the elderly man who’s giving her flowers. The musicians of the village orchestra played till they dropped. The conductor is conducting and the announcer is wearing trousers. She keeps looking in her mirror.”
